YMCA Tees Valley: Motiv8

YMCA Tees Valley has been established since 1993, and over the last 20 years has built an excellent reputation, working with hard to reach groups and disadvantaged young people living across some of the most deprived wards in Tees Valley.

Our key aims are to provide a range of age appropriate services primarily but not limited to young people; including housing, training and education, health and wellbeing, advice guidance, community support/ services, and social welfare.

YMCA Tees Valley delivers a preventative project in Middlesbrough and Stockton called Motiv8.

The project is free to young people aged between 11 and 17 years old who can be identified as either NEET (not in education, employment or training), at risk of becoming NEET, Young Offenders or those at risk of offending.

The project delivers a range of activities and workshops around health and wellbeing and preventative behaviour to young people. Workshops and activities include;

  • Personal training& fitness workshops
  • Multi-skills coaching
  • Nutrition, body image and obesity
  • Health and wellbeing workshops
  • Drug& alcohol misuse
  • Anti-social behaviour and crime
  • Gambling awareness
  • Teenage domestic violence

There are more workshops and activities available depending on the need of the individual or group.

There is also an opportunity for the young people to gain ASDAN Short Course Awards.
