Trinity Youth & Children's Project
We aim to give children and young people in North Ormesby and the local area a brighter future. Through our specialised work we aim to support them in achieving their physical, mental, social and spiritual potential; so that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society.
TYCP provides a safe, fun and stimulating place for local children and young people to learn and grow together. The weekly programme offers a variety of opportunities for them to develop in different areas of interest and skills. During school holidays we run family days to encourage children and parents to have fun and learn together and also provide workshops and trips that allow children to have experiences and visit places they would not normally be able to. We are rooted in our community and often take a lead in working with other groups so that the children can make a positive contribution to their neighbourhood.
The core work of TYCP is our weekly after-school clubs and workshops, based in the Trinity Centre, a community facility at the heart of North Ormesby. The centre provides a safe place, with plenty of room (indoors and outdoors) for children to enjoy activities they could not otherwise take part in. The weekly programme offers a variety of opportunities for children and young people to develop in different areas of interest and skills. Each week we work with an average of 65 children and young people across these activities. The staff has the resources and skills to support the children in activities that will enable them to learn new skills, have new experiences, form friendships, develop their confidence and their social and emotional well-being.
Messy Mondays: (5-11 years) - creative play, arts, crafts, freedom to get messy in activities they can't do at home! The club allows children to play in a free and imaginative way, with indoor and outdoor play. Many local children live in small cramped accommodation with few resources and would otherwise be roaming the streets or watching TV. We also have some parents who come along to enjoy playing with their children in a supportive environment; local schools will often refer families to us for this support.
We R Fit: (8-14 years) - physical games and sports activities, healthy eating and cooking, all designed to promote healthy living. Boys and girls having fun and learning how to be healthy together.
Kool Kidz: (5-11 years) - themed club looking at ourselves, our community, our world through games, crafts, stories, drama. The children really grow together in their experience and understanding of themselves and the world. They have made links with the local hospice and children in need overseas, learning to care for others as well as themselves.
