Paediatric Physiotherapy
We promote physical health and well-being in children and young people.
We have three specialist teams working in early years, mainstream schools and learning disability. We offer specialist assessment, advice and treatment to children and young people who have delayed or impaired functional skills associated with a wide range of difficulties.
We work with children and young people with physical disabilities including end of life care. We also act as a resource base for other practitioners working with children and young people. We see children from birth to 18 years or 19 years if there is an EHCP. We also see young people known to the service with a long term disability up to the age of 25 years.

- Description
-
The team consists of experienced specialist Physiotherapists and Therapy Support Workers.
We provide specialist Physiotherapy advice, assessment and treatment for babies, children and young people aged from birth to 19 years old who have a variety of difficulties with movement, this includes but is not limited to long term conditions, physical disability, acute injuries or conditions causing pain which restrict movement/mobility.
Support and advice is provided to the children/young people and their family/carers in the most appropriate setting e.g. home, clinic or school/nursery. Specialist equipment can be provided if required by your child.
We work very closely with other health professionals to provide the best possible care to the children/young people and their families.
The service is base at West Acklam Centre, where we have space to see the children/young people.
Referrals are accepted from health, education and social care professions.
We hold satellite clinics for pre-school children in some of the Family Hubs so the children can be seen closer to home. The team has close links with the Early Years Service including portage.
Some clinic appointments for older children are available at East Cleveland Primary Care Hospital, Redcar Primary care Hospital and Guisborough General Hospital. Hydrotherapy can be provided for children/young people who are clinically assessed to require this as a specialist treatment.
