Welcome to Breastfeed - South Tees
COMING SOON!
A new local Welcome to Breastfeed - South Tees scheme is coming to Middlesbrough.
The Welcome to Breastfeed - South Tees scheme aims to encourage mothers to feel confident and comfortable breastfeeding in public places. The venues that are participating in the award will display a Welcome to Breastfeed - South Tees window sticker to show mothers that they are very welcome to breastfeed their babies/children in the premises.
South Tees Public Health and its partners are committed to making breastfeeding an easier choice for mothers. By delivering the Welcome to Breastfeed - South Tees scheme, both local authorities are providing locations throughout the borough where babies/children can be breastfed more easily, with mothers feeling more supported, comfortable and confident. The Welcome to Breastfeed - South Tees scheme is delivering on one of the commitments for both Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland to become Breastfeeding Boroughs.
Venues will include; cafes, restaurants, libraries, Family Hub’s and leisure centres.
Venues have demonstrated they meet a required criteria to ensure they are providing a comfortable and safe environment, where they will not discriminate against a breastfeeding mother.
Venues who actively support staff to make premises welcome for mothers to breastfeed can have a positive impact on making women feel able to breastfeed in public.
Any premises/venue can sign up to the scheme for free. We will give you the stickers and signs you need to let mothers know they are welcome to breastfeed and list your premises on the website.
