What is a Childminder?
- Looking after one or more children under the age of 8 for more than a total of 2 hours a day on domestic premises (normally in the childminders own home) for reward.
- Registering and undergoing inspection by Ofsted - demonstrating the quality and standards of their care. Inspection reports can be viewed on the Ofsted website
- Childminders must follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which sets standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years old.
- Being self employed, running their own business, and providing a service to the families whose children they care for.
