SEND Needs Assessment April 2022

The Special Educational Needs and or Disabilities (SEND) Needs Assessment (SNA) is a systematic way of assessing the health and educational needs of the local SEND Population. It identifies ‘the big picture’, in terms of the health and wellbeing needs and inequalities of the local population, specifically in relation to the SEND population.

The SNA should enable agencies in the Middlesbrough area to make informed decisions about the actions and services required to best support its Children and Young People with SEND, as well as their parents and carers. It not only looks at the overall health and social needs of these children & young people, but also considers inequalities in outcomes and experience across the diverse populations in the town. This relates to children and young people living in areas of deprivation, to age and gender, and to vulnerable groups.
