Preparation for Adulthood - With an EHCP Guidance

EHCP

For young people with special educational needs and disabilities, the transition between childhood and adulthood can take longer and may need more preparation and planning.

If you have an EHCP, we will discuss plans and aspirations for adulthood with you as early as possible and at least from Yr 9 onwards. Your school should arrange for you to be given careers information, advice and guidance to help you make a decision about what you would like to do in the future. Your views and ambitions will always be considered and included in your EHCP. Your plans for adulthood and the support you may need to help you achieve this will also be included in your EHCP.

Information for Parents and Carers

You will have been thinking about your child’s future for a long time and it’s never too early to discuss your hopes and aspirations for your child. From year 9, if your child has an EHCP, we will discuss plans and aspirations for adulthood with you. Your views and your hopes and aspirations for your child will also be reflected in his/her EHCP.
