Harbour Domestic Abuse Prevention Service
Harbour's Men's Service works with men who are abusive and controlling towards their partners and demonstrate their intention to change these behaviours. The focus of the service is very clearly upon increasing the safety of partners and children and to reduce the incidents of domestic abuse within these relationships. The service incorporates a women's safety service and works alongside victim services and statutory agencies to monitor behaviour and continually assess risks through timely information sharing.
The Middlesbrough Men's Service is offered in partnership with Families Forward to ensure the needs of the whole family are understood and met.
The programme is a mix of assessment, group work and one to one work appointments and participants will be expected to engage for a period of 30 weeks in total.
Harbour has worked for over 45 years to improve the quality of life for families and individuals experiencing domestic abuse. It operates across Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool, County Durham, Northumberland, North Tyneside, Redcar and Cleveland and Darlington. It offers refuge services, adult and children's support, a sexual violence counselling programme, a male Preventions Programme, and Group Programmes. In addition to direct support, the organisation works to educate the wider community about the issues surrounding domestic abuse by providing training to statutory and voluntary agencies.
In Middlesbrough, Harbour offers a Preventions Programme and Group Programmes.
